Visit Location 1

Big drive day, Darwin-Katherine-Victoria River-Timber Creek to Keep River National Park. Arriving late afternoon we have time for beautiful sunset walk around sandstone escarpment before campfire dinner under the stars

Day 2

Visit Location 1

Cross into Western Australia via quarantine station, no fruit or vegetables allowed into WA. Spend 2 hrs exploring Kununurra township while guide shops for tour provisions

 

Visit Location 2

Travel to Bungle Bungle’s ( Purnululu National Park) One of Australia’s remarkable tourist destinations.The Bungle Bungle is renowned for its striking sandstone domes, striped with orange and grey bands. Created in the Devonian period 360 million years ago erosion by creeks, rivers, wind and rain has carved out spectacular gorges and surreal landscapes

Day 3

Visit Location 1

Today is spent exploring the walks-gorges and spectacular scenery of Purnululu National Park. Recommend a helicopter flight (at own expense ) This flight is one of the most spectacular scenic flights in the top end and allows incredible views of Bungle Bungle formations and surreal landscapes of Purnululu range

Day 4

Visit Location 1

Early departure to El Questro station, regarded as one of the world’s most unique holiday destinstions. 1 million acres of Kimberley outback, with ancient aboriginal history, pristine tropical gorges,waterfalls with crystal clear plunge pools for refreshing swim, walking trails, 4x4 trails and the mighty barramundi fishing, there is plenty to keep you occupied during your stay at El Questro

 

Visit Location 2 3pm Chamberlain gorge boat cruise, 3 km waterhole bounded by tropical vegetation and dwarfed by 70 meter sandstone escarpments, a beautiful, tranquil cruise. Animal, bird and fish life congregate on rivers and waterholes, of which El Questro boasts four major river systems – from fresh water springs to the lazy salt water estuaries in the northern part of the property. Saltwater and freshwater crocodiles are permanent residents on El Questro

Day 5

Visit Location 1

Early rise to visit Zebedee springs, a short walk via tropical rainforest through dense livingstonia palms to a series of thermal pools, a magical place to soak and relax. If early enough you have this garden of eden to yourself,truly a unique experience

 

Visit Location 2 Rest of day, 4x4 drive to our chosen gorge, walking, swimming or barramundi fishing. Spectacular views and scenery abound in this wilderness

Sunset nibbles at saddle back ridge, a stunning sunset with majestic views over El questro. Accessible by rugged 4x4 ridge track only

Day 6

Visit Location 1

Heading west along the Gibb river road, we turn north onto the kalumburu road heading to King Edward river. Fuel stop at Drysdale River station. Arriving King Edward river camp ground we visit two local artsites with excellent examples of both Wandjina and Bradshaw paintings. Camped beside beautiful King Edward river you can enjoy a refreshing swim in beautiful pools

Day 7

Visit Location 1

Today is Mitchell Falls day, an 80 km drive over the Mitchell plateau through vast stands of endemic Livistona eastonii palms, slow rough 4x4 track

 

Visit Location 2 From Mitchell falls car park we walk 15 minutes to Little Mertens falls with idyllic views and beneaththe falls some excellent artsites can be viewed

 

Visit Location 3

20 minutes walk to Big Mertens falls, these falls rarely flow in the dry but still make an impressive sight as nature has carved deep gorges through the sandstone plateau

 

 

Visit Location 4

20 minutes walk to Mitchell falls, an unforgettable sight as the Mitchell river cascades over three waterfalls, surrounded by sandstone formations created over millions of years by natures erosion. Refreshing swim in pools at top of falls, enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by spectacular scenery. Return to car park via a 7 minute helicopter flight. 80 km drive back to camp. A simply unforgettable day

Day 8

Visit Location 1

Depart camp heading back to Gibb river Rd. Visit Barnett river gorge for tranquil swim in pools along the gorge

 

Visit Location 2

Next stop Manning Gorge, where we camp at lower pools in idyllic camp ground surrounded by large magnificent Boab trees. Large pool for swimming with sandy beach makes this a favourite camp site

Day 9

Visit Location 1

This morning we walk from camp 1 hr to Manning Gorge falls and pools. A scenic walk through typical sandstone habitat of this region. For those interested in birds you will be rewarded with a variety of sightings of many species that live along these rivers. A welcome swim and picnic lunch in tranquil setting makes for a pleasant day. Return to camp and relax for remainder of day, swim, read or snooze for a few hrs while guide prepares a camp oven roast for dinner

Day 10

Visit Location 1

Galvans Gorge, a 15 min walk to a beautiful pool and refreshing swim at the base of lovely falls

 

Visit Location 2 Addock Gorge, a 20 min walk to yet another beautiful waterfall, idyllic setting, a delightful spot to relax and cool off

 

Visit Location 3

To Silent Grove camp ground, set up camp and head to Bell Gorge, regarded as one of the most spectacular gorges in the whole of the Kimberly. Afternoon relaxing at Bell Gorge before heading back to camp for campfire dinner under the stars

Day 11

Visit Location 1

Leonard River Gorge, this 5 km long gorge was carved out by the Leonard River as it slashed through the King Leopold Ranges creating, spectacular sheer vertical cliffs and deep cool shaded pools. A good level of fitness is required to access this area, but well worth the effort

 

Visit Location 2 To Windjana Gorge, set up camp and stroll down to the gorge 200 mtrs from camp. A large pool is home to numerous fresh water crocodiles that are trapped in the dry season pools along the gorge. Windjana Gorge is regarded by geologists as one of the classic examples of world geology. Millions of years of erosion by the Leonard River cutting a deep gorge through the Napier Range, once an ancient limestone barrier reef, that today reveals fossils from the Devonian period in which it was created

Day 12

To Derby, fuel and provisions required here. Chance to top up any beverage requirements

 

Visit Location 2 Head to Cape Leveque, an interesting 4x4 drive through remote cattle stations and aboriginal community access roads. Joining the Cape Leveque road approx half way up to the Cape we continue on to spectacular campground owned by local aboriginal Bardi / Jawi people, nestled on the pristine coast of King Sound. The scenic coastal setting of this campground makes our next 2 days here a pleasure in paradise

Day 13

Visit Location 1

Visit Lombadina community, an aboriginal community successfully managed and operated by the local Bardi traditional owners. The Bardi people of Lombadina have strong links to the sea,a salt water heritage dating back thousands of years. This heritage is evident in economic activity, recreation, folklore and diet. Visit the old mission church built from local timbers. Keen fisherman can book a fishing charter and go out with experienced local aboriginal guide

 

Visit Location 2 Rest of day spent on scenic drive to top of cape, View the amazing red cliffs along Cape Leveque, Swim at Kooljaman and visit community of One Arm Point. Dinner on campfire under the stars, lifes good

Today is totally day of leisure, beach combing and swimming from camp, whole day to chill out and enjoy paradise

Visit Location 1

Relaxed departure, heading to Broome. Visit Beagle Bay historic Scared Heart Church. Completed in 1918 by the Pallotine Pious Society of missions, the three alters are works of art and inlaid with pearl shell and cowries

 

Visit Location 2 Arrive Broome mid afternoon. Check in at your designated accommodation. End of tour
